Tamima Nasrin is a Human Rights Activist and development
professional having 8 years working experience in development
sectors for gender equality and Social Justice, and more than 15
years’ experience of volunteerism for community development. She
has combined her ambition of being a development expert and
aspiration to advocate for achieving Gender equality and Women
empowerment. She has extensive working knowledge in Gender
advocacy, GBV program in emergency and development setting,
Campaign Design, Facilitation of Workshop & Training, Expertise
in building awareness for GBV response and prevention,
mobilizing youth people in volunteerism. Besides, she has worked
at many National and International organizations, on top of
that, she had worked at the United Nation Population Fund
Bangladesh as a District Facilitator. During her assignment she
provided various technical assistance to Bangladesh police and
department of women affairs to prevent and response gender-based
violence against women and girls.
Furthermore, she has taken many tremendous initiatives in the
community notably, conveyed GBV awareness messages to 151,000
people at grass root level, introduced a victim support corner
(Night Stay Facilities) at Police station where survivors can
stay overnight during their emergency, and organized many &
National international awareness campaigns as well. Prior to
joining UN Tamima worked as a street law trainer at Empowerment
through Law of the common people (ELCOP), where she trained a
number of youth and adolescents Girls and Boys about the Common
Laws, Human Rights, Harmful practices of GBV, Youth Leadership &
Empowerment. Currently she is managing SheEqual for the
advancement of women and girl’s rights in Bangladesh and
mobilizing youth volunteers for gender equality. Tamima Holds
her Master’s degree in Law and justice department from Jagannath
University Bangladesh. Along with her academic degrees she has
completed so many leadership training in the national &
international arena.
In addition, she has received many national and international
Awards for her multifaceted creative work, innovation, and
bravery for community development. Such as, Inspiring Women
Award in 2022 United Nation Country Champion Volunteers Award in
2021 Outstanding Leadership Award in 2021. Bravery Award in
2020. National Youth Icon Award, New Delhi, in 2019.
